This program is meant to teach medical students about the ethical, legal and social issues related to genetics, especially genetic testing and counseling. The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the National Coalition for Health Professional Education in Genetics (NCHPEG) have highlighted the need for more education about the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) related to genetic testing and counseling.
